First Fight for Life Seminar in Penzberg/Germany on 10/11 November 2012
For two days in November around 150 participants from all over Germany and Switzerland met in Penzberg, Bavaria, for the first Fight for Life Seminar in Germany.Various martial arts were taught and practised intensively in best Budo spirit.
The sole aim behind this seminar was to support Cancer Research, also commemorating some fine Budo artists and friends that have died of cancer in recent years, especially commemorating Kyoshi Wendy Carroll from Australia.
The seminar, which was also an official Shibu Taikai of Dai Nippon Butoku Kai / Germany Branch, was organised by the two Budo organisations ´Verband asiatischer Kampfkünste e. V.´ and ´Idokan Europa e. V.´
All the instructors did not take any money for their 2-day instruction, the participants´ fees were donated wholly to ´Deutsche Kinderkrebshilfe´, a German charity organisation that supports child cancer research and helps children that have contracted cancer.
This way a sum of 4777,51 € was raised and donated to this charity.
Instructors at the seminar were:
- Shihan Rudolf Gabert, Hanshi, Ido and Jiujitsu
- Shihan Wolfgang Wimmer, Kyoshi, Aiki-Jo, Jiujitsu and Iaido
- (German Representative of DNBK)
- Shihan Rolf Gerisch, Renshi, Kobudo and Karate-Do
- Shihan Thomas Haumüller, Renshi, Aikido
- Sensei Norman Goly, Tasshi, Kyushu-Jitsu
- Sensei Bernd Bichmann, Judo
- Kyosah-Nim Martin Mittermeier, Taekwondo
- Sensei Stefan Reindl, Karate-Do
- Sensei Horst Brenner, Jiujitsu
- Sensei Josef Holzmann, Karate-Do (President Idokan Europe)
Although there was a serious and philosophical background to the seminar all the participants enjoyed their Budo lessons immensely. The whole seminar was a great success, especially because the money raised and donated could be helpful for children with cancer.
